Ivanka Trump models her own shoes for her 2010 Ivanka Trump Footwear Ad Campaign (as she does for her Jewellery collection). The new Ivanka Trump Footwear hit Nordstrom last week and Ivanka has launched a new website featuring her new ad campaign … so very New York!There are four ranges to her collection; Weekend, Modern Classics, Red Carpet and White. The prices start at US$80 and the evening shoes maxing out at US$160. Ivanka inked a licensing deal with Marc Fisher Footwear because as she puts it, “I love shoes!”
Ivanka talked to Glamour Magazine about her new collection:
STF: What made you decide to branch out from jewelry to shoes?
IT: First and foremost, I love shoes. What woman doesn’t?! But gorgeous shoes shouldn’t have to cost $500 a pair. I work closely with the design team at Marc Fisher Footwear to create beautiful, high-quality shoes at friendlier price points. I love the Old Hollywood, Art Deco era so certainly my jewelry and evening shoes reflect that sensibility, but I also needed pumps for the office (and they have to be versatile to take me from day to night.) I also have some great casual styles for lounging around on the weekends or on vacation. My footwear collection is a really well-rounded lifestyle collection–not just for me but for every woman out there!
STF: How many pairs of shoes do you own? Be honest!
IT: Now that I have my own line…too many to count! Like I told my husband, it’s lucky I work in real estate, because I’ll soon need a new closet to hold all of my shoes!
STF: Do you remember your first designer shoes or first big splurge? What were they?
IT: I remember when Converse sneakers were a big deal, although perhaps not a splurge. I stole my first pair of black satin Manolos from my mother’s closet at 14.
STF: Any tips and tricks for mastering the art of walking in high heels?
IT: Comfort and confidence! Being in the industry, I’ve come to learn that it really starts with the fit–that’s the key. If your shoes don’t fit properly, no amount of grin-and-bear-it fortitude will save you. It’s absolutely crucial, that’s why our fit specialists are some of the best in the business. After that, it’s up to you to provide the confidence.
STF: What are the 3 essential pairs every woman’s wardrobe must have?
IT: A sensible pointy midheel- they’re timeless, yet really of-the-moment; the perfect ballet flat to go with everything; and a dazzling pair of red carpet heels–if you own them, you will find a place to wear them.
